About us

The Cider Press Gallery is a vibrant, independently owned South Devon Art Gallery established in 2021, providing creative, contemporary art at the heart of Dartington’s Cider Press Centre.

Our mission is promoting and selling contemporary art and crafts in the delightful setting of Dartington, near Totnes and online.

We thrive on building our artists’ reputations and inspiring them to continue to bring more unique creations to life for us to display in our contemporary gallery!

We showcase original artwork from more than 50 exceptionally talented artists and craftspeople, meticulously selected to embody our gallery’s ethos. Ninety percent of our artists have local ties, residing and creating within or connected to the South West region. We’re confident you’ll appreciate the diverse range of original artistry offered by our local talents here in Devon.

Meet the founder

Gallery owner and Curator Pam Neaves trained and graduated as a Graphic Designer in West Yorkshire, she was head-hunted from her degree course for her first role as a Graphic Designer in Leeds. After working for another agency, soon discovered that she was destined to run her own business, which she started at the age of 23.

After becoming a Mum at 36 and moving to Devon, Pam opened a gallery in 2016 hosting creative workshops in the local market town of Newton Abbot.

In 2019 Pam shared a ceramics and painting studio in the nearby village of Broadhempston returning to more hands on creativity, here she hosted pot throwing experiences and creative retreats for local and visiting ceramic enthusiasts.

Pam now runs the Cider Press Gallery here at Dartington near Totnes and enjoys explaining the process behind her work, whilst being surrounded by a myriad of colour as well as being inspired by other artists’ work.

‘It’s lovely to discuss my journey so far and share others passions for art too! I believe everyone had a creative streak to be explored.”

What our artists say

‘My paintings have been shown at the Cider Press Gallery since the latter half of 2022 when Pam Neaves took over its management. During that time Pam and her fantastic team have curated my work beautifully and ensured successful sales.
It’s a beautifully lit gallery over two levels, moreover a ‘high footfall gallery’ in which I feel honoured to have my work. In September of this year I exhibited a full body of work there, alongside Pam’s own work, for the 2023 Devon Open Studios. It was a resounding success, not just with sales but with the extraordinary positive feedback provided by the gallery visitors. Pam and her super friendly team went out of their way to ensure my work was curated for most impact, and were beyond helpful with visitors, customers, sales, wrapping, and organising shipping. Her team fully engage not just with visitors to the gallery, but also with the history and stories behind the making of the artworks exhibited. To me it’s this full level of engagement by the team that makes the Cider Press Gallery a special venue in which to exhibit your work’
