Tina Hill-Art

Tina’s ceramic works are formed intuitively and often with abstract representation. Elements of the local South Devon coast, wild estuary and working port often emerge, in particular the ever changing silvery estuary tide and rugged textures of the surrounding natural landscapes here in South Devon.
Remembered fragments of her wandering travels, playful inner child and a career working therapeutically with people are also key influences to her ceramic sculptures, often seen reflected in her character sculptures, quirky animal sculptures, metaphor and suggested emotion.

Tina Hill-Art hand-builds her ceramic sculptures from slabbed clay and coiled clay, mostly white stoneware clay or black stoneware clay which are fired to high temperatures in a kiln. Tina Hill-Art often leaves sections of her ceramic sculptures unglazed or decorates them with matte tactile finishes.
Tina Hill-Art also creates ceramic earrings and pendants inspired by the Devon coast and Dartmoor. These are set on silver findings and chains.

Many pieces handmade by Tina Hill-Art feature clay from the River Teign near her ceramic studio, her ceramic naked lady sculptures and quirky animal sculptures never fail to raise a smile!
