Ruth Thorp is an illustrator, designer, and maker with a love for colour, graphics, picture books, and print.
Ruth Thorp’s work is inspired by the natural world, incredible landscapes and a sense of adventure. Ruth Thorp is drawn to clear, sophisticated design and bold graphics, using colour, texture, and minimalist layouts to create pieces that make people smile “The art of storytelling through both words and pictures fascinates me and I love that people can attach their own stories and experiences to the work I have created. I love to hear my work has brightened someone’s day and added a bit of beauty to the world.”
With a degree in Architecture from The University of Bath, Ruth Thorp spent 10 years working in an international Landscape Architecture practice, where she honed my skills in design and aesthetics. This experience shaped her understanding of space, composition, and the natural world, all of which Ruth Thorp now incorporates into her illustrations.
Now, as a full-time freelance illustrator, Ruth dedicates her time to creating and selling illustrated collections that reflect my love for storytelling and visual communication. Her work spans various themes and styles, allowing her to explore different narratives and artistic techniques. Ruth is proud to have her illustrations featured in several magazines and journals, including Breathe, Ernest Journal, Simple Things, Severine, Halo Lit, Barefoot Diaries, and Unpsychology Magazine.
Ruth Thorp has also written and illustrated a number of picture books, marrying her love for storytelling with captivating visuals. These books aim to spark imagination and foster a love for reading among children and adults alike.
