Eleanor King
Originally studying Foundation Art at Harrow Art School, Eleanor King went on to become a graphic designer in London.
A painting holiday in Scotland inspired her to explore the serendipitous nature of watercolour, which suited the dynamic skies and light reflecting waters around Devon’s coast. Eleanor now focuses on creating watercolour paintings of Devon and Cornwall landscapes and coastal scenes but also creates acrylic paintings, since moving to Devon, much of her paintings reflect the local landscapes, Dartmoor and coastal views throughout Devon and Cornwall. We host a selection of Eleanor Kings’ Dartmoor landscape paintings and paintings of Devon’s coast.
Eleanor King states:
“Serene light, gentle colours in a calm space, mists drifting, playing with distant horizons –
I feel the need to capture arresting views throughout the coasts and moorlands of Devon, South Hams and Cornwall that give me joy and share them.”
Eleanor enjoys sharing those arresting views that give joy, the elusive goal being to recreate the emotional moment that stopped you in your tracks, to really look . . . and stay looking.
“If sharing these landscapes increases people’s awareness of earth’s infinite beauty, maybe it will encourage people to feel more protective toward their planet.”
