Dartmoor Oak’ limited edition, unframed lino cut print

This fine detailed, limited edition of a lino cut tree print. Richard Shimell syas “I knew I wanted to make a print of this tree as soon as I saw it on a common on the western edge of Dartmoor. It’s an old tree and has had room to spread out to its full, magnificent potential. It’s a beautiful shape, but not completely symmetrical.” Richard Shimell tried out a new technique for this print – etching lino with caustic soda. The background, or sky, plate had caustic soda painted and dragged onto it to make the cloud shapes.
