Passing Showers at Wonwell Beach
A delicate oil painting of a coastal scene at Wonwell beach, Salcombe in the South Hams. The painting is set within a complementary, rustic, white-washed wooden frame with a slightly distressed, driftwood appearance.
The painting depicts a beach landscape under a partly cloudy sky. The sky is rendered in soft shades of blue and white, with the clouds suggesting a slightly overcast day. A prominent brown cliff rises on the right side of the painting, featuring a smattering of green vegetation at the top. The beach itself is a sandy colour, with areas of wet sand reflecting the sky’s light. – Something which this artist captures so well in her paintings. There are a few dark rocks scattered across the beach, and a puddle of water near the center of the painting reflects the sky and the surrounding scene.
The signature of the artist, “E. King,” is visible in the bottom right corner of the painting.
