We’re delighted to have Belinda Reynell back in the courtyard demonstrating her oil painting techniques (weather permitting – otherwise we’ll shelter her indoors).
Her upcoming demonstrations are on :
Saturday 18th May 2024 11am – 3pm
Friday 5th July 2024 11am – 3pm
Belinda Reynell is a much acclaimed contemporary landscape artist, based near Tiverton. Belinda hosts oil painting workshops both in person and via zoom. I had the pleasure of attending a few of Belinda Reynell’s zoom workshops during lockdown, which is when I first discovered and admired her work. I hadn’t worked with oil paints before so I was keen to explore the qualities and effects of this medium. Upon taking on the gallery in 2022, I was delighted to discover that Belinda was already selling her work through the Cider Press Gallery and we are delighted to continue to represent her work.
If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting Belinda, do come and join us. Belinda and I have travelled to similar places abroad and she’s always willing to answer any questions you may have about her inspiration, journey so far and materials, whilst she paints on canvas throughout the day.
Belinda Studied Illustration and editorial design and has won accolades for her landscape paintings.
We have a great selection of Belinda’s work in the gallery from smaller, unframed oil on paper pieces, mid sized framed and unframed canvas paintings and larger statement pieces. We currently have 3 paintings that were painted from sketches she created whilst on a train journey from Tiverton to Totnes. These feature winding waterways across different colour palettes, each having their own interpretation whilst portraying her signature style.
Belinda Reynell never paints an exact location but takes glimpses from several locations mainly throughout Devon and Cornwall (her home turf) and emotively creates a scene reminiscent of those places and the feelings they evoke within yet leaves them wide open to your own interpretation of where their location could be. I’m often led towards memories of my childhood in Yorkshire within Belinda’s paintings – a walk along the towpath, a glance up at the trees or a walk in bluebell filled woods. Her paintings are a delight to see and Belinda is a true inspiration to visiting artists and admirers of her work!
Customers who have admired and purchased Belinda’s paintings have also found themselves attaching them to their own or family members’ memories, projecting their own significance and treasured emotions on her work to be relived again and again.
We have plenty of parking available on site near the gallery here at the Cider Press Centre and there’s a cafe and toilets too! Cash, Card and instalment payments accepted.
